Featured DBE: Duct Doctor of Baton Rouge

The mission of Duct Doctor of Baton Rouge is to provide indoor air quality to our commercial, industrial, marine, governmental and residential clients. Duct Doctor of Baton Rouge is the local leader in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) duct cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, and mold remediation. Utilizing proprietary technology and proven processes, we are able to effectively serve clients throughout our entire Southeast Louisiana service area, including areas near Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Covington. As a certified member of the National Air Duct Cleaners Association, we are bound to follow a strict and professional code of ethics while adhering to the highest standards of HVAC inspection, maintenance, and restoration.

The Duct Doctor of Baton Rouge franchise was established in 2016 with one truck and a single employee. By following the franchise model, tapping into years-long relationships, and networking, our workforce, fleet, and client-base has grown exponentially. After hurricane IDA ravaged the Lake Charles area, DDBR partnered with Dynamic Construction as the duct cleaner for a portion of the McNeese State University contract. This partnership led to a relationship with Johnson Controls, Inc. and the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital system. These contracts along with the continued established clients pushed DDBR to close out 2020 as the third highest commercial revenue franchise. As the growth and blessings continued, DDBR was recently awarded the prestigious honor of being the number one franchise in 2021 for commercial revenue and overall revenue for the entire Duct Doctor USA organization.

Joel Scales, a North Carolina native and an East Carolina University Alumnus, is the founder and managing partner of Duct Doctor of Baton Rouge. After over 20 years in the financial industry, Joel and his family moved to Louisiana where he accepted the job as the Chief Financial Officer for a privately owned disaster recovery company, in 2005, after Hurricane Katrina. After the flooding events of August 2016, Joel was introduced to Mr. Ken Stricklin, the owner of the Duct Doctor USA franchise.

"We greatly appreciate the support from our clients and partners that have helped us get to this point! We would like to give a special thanks to the SJB Group’s Mr. Kenyatta Sparks, Program Director, for his dedication to the Disadvantaged Business Element (DBE) program. We want to recognize Mrs. Paula Roddy, Compliance Programs Director, and her team with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development for their assistance in critical challenges.

We are excited to share “The Duct Doctor Difference” as we continue to grow and expand our services." - Joel Scales
